This set of files contains the chamber data and other files described in the
U.S. EPA report "Documentation of the University of California, Riverside
Environmental Chamber Data Base for Evaluating Oxidant Mechanisms, Release
2, Indoor Chamber Experiments through 1993".  Appendix C of that report
describes how to install these files and indicates how to use the programs.

This report gives necessary information to use these data.  The text and
most of the graphics in the report is contained in the files REPORT.ZIP (see
below).  The report can also be obtained from the EPA.  Please contact Dr.
Marcia Dodge, address below, for more information.

Alternatively, I can be contacted me at the e-mail or phone numbers above
for information on how to get the report.  However, we only have limited
copies available for distribution.

Following is a brief summary of the installation procedure.  Appendix C of
the report should be consulted for details.

Most of the files are in one or more ZIP files, and PKUNZIP must be used to
extract them.  PKUNZIP.EXE is included in the FTP directory or is on the
first diskette.  The directory information is contained in the ZIP files,
and PKZIP should be run with the "-d" option to place the files in the
appropriate subdirectory.  Although they can be unZipped manually, it is
recommended to use INSTALL2.BAT, which is in the FTP directory or on the
first diskette. To use INSTALL2, do the following:

1.  If the distributed files were obtained Internet using FTP, be sure they
are all together in the same directory.  If they were obtained on diskettes,
put the first diskette in a drive.

2.  Create the root directory you want to use on a hard disk with at least
Create the root directory you want to use on a hard disk with at least 10
MB free space.  IT SHOULD BE DIFFERENT THAN THE ONE WHERE THE DISTRIBUTED
FILES ARE.  If the SAPRC chamber modeling software and files have already
been installed, this should have the same root directory (if there is enough
room on the disk.)  The INSTALL2 procedure requires that this directory
exist.

3.  Run INSTALL2.BAT with the first parameter giving the source directory
and the second parameter giving the destination directory (without the
trailing "\" in both cases).  If the drive letter is given, it should be
with the ":".  For example, if the distributed files from the FTP are in
C:\TMP and you want the files to be installed at D:\MODEL, you should give
the command

     C:\TMP\INSTALL2 C:\TMP D:\MODEL

Or if the distributed files are on diskettes which can be read by drive B:,
the command should be:

     B:INSTALL2 B: D:\MODEL

If you are using diskettes, put the other diskettes in the drive when
prompted to do so.  They should be put in order.

4.  If the procedure succeeds, you can delete the distributed files from the
FTP in the source directory if applicable.  (It might be best to wait to see
if the EXAMPLE.BAT procedure, discussed below, works OK before doing this.)

The file FILES2.LIS gives a listing of the files as they should be after
they are installed.  The file FILES2.TAB gives a brief description of each
file.

The report should be consulted for more detail.

ADDENDUM TO APPENDIX C:  The data are split into files CHDATA-1.ZIP through
CHDATA-8.ZIP, rather than all in CHDATA.ZIP.  The set is split so that (1)
each will fit on a 1.4 MB diskette, and (2) they can be downloaded by those
who lave limited disk space on their network computers.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The files DATABAS2.PDF and DATBAS2A.PDF contain the two volumes of the
report in .PDF format (see below).  The exceptions are (1) Figures 1, 2,
3, 5, and 6, which contain diagrams of the EC, ITC, DTC, and XTC,
respectively.)

After discussions with Dr. Harvey Jeffries of University of North
Carolina, the Adobe PDF format is chosen for use of ready exchange of
documents. Documents can be read using an ACROBAT(tm) PDF reader, which
is shareware software (but see the text that comes with it).  The windows
version is available in this directory in the file ACROREAD.EXE, which is
a extractable file containing Windows program and files.  Run ACROREAD in
windows to install the program.

The ACROBAT reader can be obtained in DOS, Macintosh, and other versions
from ftp.adobe.com in /pub/adobe/Applications/Acrobat. Go to the
appropriate subdirectory from there to get the version you need.

Note:  INSTALL2.BAT does not copy or extract these files.
